The pet industry continues to develop new products to interest companion animals and pet parents. Each year there are more novel trends for our favorite canines and felines. This is, of course, evidence of the place our beloved pets have in our hearts. It’s no wonder that people continually search for new items to pamper their animal companions and support their health and wellbeing.

Let’s explore nine of the latest inventions and trends. While many of these are marketed for dogs, your feline friend may also enjoy them.

1. Ball Launcher

An automatic ball launcher allows you to play fetch with your pet for hours, until they tire of the game. Your dog will be able to get lots of exercise while you can cheer them on and conserve some of your energy. Basically, you put balls into the launcher and watch while it shoots them different distances and directions. Better yet, you can train your doggie (or your cat) to drop the balls in themselves.

2. CBD Products

CBD oil for dogs has been specially formulated to address numerous health concerns. Evidence shows it may relieve pain, reduce anxiety, and decrease inflammation. This natural product is made from cannabidiol, a substance extracted from cannabis plants. There are no side effects, and it is quite easy to administer in a treat form or mixed in with their dog food. The fact that it’s become a $195 million dollar industry is a testament to the popularity of this product.

3. Different Bed Designs

Your pooch needs a safe and secure place to rest, and there are two new doggie bed designs worth considering. If Sadie or Sam is on the anxious side, you can find a comfortable open or enclosed calming pet bed that even comes with a pleasant scent. The other type of pet bed is shaped like an oversized donut with a hole at one side for your dog to crawl into. These are normally made of foam with a soft fabric cover.

4. Drinking Water Options

Pet fountains for dogs and cats have been popular for a few years now. They offer a steady flow of water from a reservoir that is kept filled. The advantage is that your pet may be encouraged to drink more water; moving water is more appealing to animals. Another hydration creation is the portable water bottle. Typically, this product is bought by dog owners who enjoy a good hike in the outdoors with their pup. And, if Fluffy is taking a long car trip with you, it is a convenient reservoir for their drinking water that can be folded up so it doesn’t take up much space and stored in the car, so it is always there when you need it.

5. Enrichment Toys

With so much focus these days on enrichment playthings, the market is full of fun, interesting, and interactive toys for your pooch. Treat dispensers, interactive puzzle toys, feeding mats, motion-activated wands and special chew toys are just some of what’s on the market. All have been developed to stimulate your dog’s intelligence and reward their learning.

6. Freeze-Dried Food

In addition to air-dried and raw foods, freeze-dried products are becoming more popular among pet owners. This is because freeze-dried food usually has a higher nutritional value than canned or kibble foods. It generally has more protein, minerals, and vitamins than traditional dog food, as well as fewer carbohydrates. This makes it is optimized for improved health. Freeze-dried pet food can be in by your pet after being cooked or rehydrated.

7. Probiotics, Vitamins, and Supplements

Today, there is more information available about what can be added to your pet’s diet to improve their overall health. There are quite a variety of vitamins and supplements available that your veterinarian may prescribe depending on your pet’s health status. When it comes to probiotics and prebiotics to support gut health, these have become common ingredients in pet food.

8. Slow Feeder

If you have a pet that doesn’t pace themselves at mealtimes, a slow feeding bowl can be a benefit. These feeders are designed with nooks and crannies to make your pet work a little harder to extract every bite of their meal. They can be used with wet or dry food.

9. Smart Technology

Keeping track of our pets is necessary to ensure their safety. Smart tech can help you monitor your pet’s behavior and interact with them, even if you aren’t at home. Smart collars, camera systems, treat dispensers, and other toys can offer extra assurance to your doggo. This is an area where innovations continue to emerge.
